What game have you played all the way through?
Halo.
Plot the dramatic arc:
Game starts slow with character in a sleep chamber. Once movement is mastered the player is immediately thrown into a chaotic situation. There are races of this and that then your being attacked my aliens. Then as the game progresses and your objective becomes clear the game becomes difficult. Halo is designed to be a high intensity action fest from start to finish with only cut scenes as your brake. The end comes bitter sweet as you defeat the enemy but it comes at a great personal cost.
How is exposition handled (FMVs, Narrative, Cut Scenes)?
The exposition is handled quite well with there being so few cuts. The story is moved along quickly but the player doesn’t feel rushed. There is sometimes a narrator of sorts. (Cortona).
Who is the protagonist?
Master Chief, aka Spartan 117, aka sierra 117, aka John. The most bad a#@ character ever.
What is the main conflict and when is it introduced?
The conflict is between humans and aliens know as the covenant. The story is pounded into the players head over and over again humans good aliens bad.
What does the protagonist do to resolve the conflict (spoilers)
Shoot allot of bullets. Kill allot of aliens. Join forces with unlikely characters. Be awesome.
What causes tension in the story?
The earth has lost items from the forunners on it and the aliens come here not in peace to seek them. We fight back.
What deciding factor brings the story to a conclusion?
The threat of a greater stronger enemy (The flood). The discovery of the aliens intentions and plans. Your position of being right in the middle of the front lines.
What happens at the resolution?
The threat of a greater enemy forces you to blow up a installation called a halo before it kills every living thing around it. Your left wondering what the future holds but that there will be more to come.
